Barum Continental is a renowned brand in tyre manufacturing. Originally from the Czech Republic, it is one of the largest tyre producers in Central Europe serving the international market. Founded in 1948, Barum produces over 21 million tyres for passenger cars each year. The brand is recognised for the quality of its tyres, offered at affordable prices, and their exceptional resistance to wear.
Barum offers a wide range of tyres for cars, SUVs, vans, as well as for trucks and industrial machinery. Barum’s solutions are appreciated for their reliability and excellent value for money.
The creation of Barum is the result of the 1948 merger of three major rubber manufacturing companies in Czechoslovakia: Bata in Zlín, Rubena in Náchod, and Mitas in Hrádek nad Nisou. Initially, Barum was a subsidiary of Bata Shoes, a company that manufactured rubber-soled boots.
In 1966, construction of a new manufacturing plant began in Otrokovice, and the following year, the first radial tyre was produced at the Zlín factory. In 1972, tyre production ceased in Zlín when the new factory was built in Otrokovice.
Barum began sponsoring rally competitions in 1983. Today, the Barum Czech Rally Zlín is one of the stages of the European Rally Championship. In addition, Barum has supported the historic rally car races Star Rally Historic for many years.
In 1992, a joint venture agreement was signed with Continental AG, further strengthening Barum’s position in the international tyre market.
