Madras Rubber Factory, better known as MRF, is an Indian company specialising in the manufacture of tyres. Founded in 1946 by K. M. Mammen Mappillai, it initially produced balloons before moving into tyre production in 1952. In 1960, MRF partnered with Mansfield Tire & Rubber Company, an American manufacturer, and began exporting its products to the Middle East and the United States.
MRF is recognised for its use of cutting-edge technology in the design and validation of its products. The raw materials used are tested and approved in NABL-accredited laboratories. MRF works closely with global suppliers to utilise the latest advances in materials. The prototypes for verification and validation testing are manufactured in one of MRF’s ten plants, all of which are IATF 16949/ISO 9001 certified. Two of these plants are also certified to the AS9100 aerospace standard.
MRF tyres undergo a series of rigorous tests to confirm their structure and quality. They are also tested on fleets across the country to ensure they withstand all types of roads that MRF customers travel on every day. Racetracks and Indian roads serve as their laboratories.
