Soft, stable tyre
My second set of tyres like these. The previous ones were on a ’93 Corolla. With those, I may have managed to cause some wear on the outer shoulder of the tyre over three years by taking tight turns in roundabouts, although the reason could of course also have been the wheel alignment, etc. These tyres take away the constant fear of what will happen when slushy first snow falls on a remote mountainous gravel road and a resurfaced stretch of tarmac turns into an ice rink. It may be partly psychological, but you definitely stay on the road better with these, and studded tyres have to be pretty good to be clearly better in similar conditions. With my current car, I have noticed that gravel cheerfully rattles into the wheel arches when cornering. Perhaps that is a characteristic of the fairly aggressive tread grooves, but I suppose you can’t have everything.
