The Double Rivet is an iconic tire from the 1920s by the Michelin brand; the design has been preserved, the technology has been modernized to offer an ultra high-performance and safe vintage tire.
If the very first detachable tires were said to be beaded, their successors were the tires called conventional or diagonal. At the time, they incorporated technological advances such as carbon black and textile cables.
Thanks to the former, used from 1917, the lifespan of tires literally exploded to achieve a longevity 5 times greater.
On its side, the use of textile cables arranged parallel within the carcass of the tire increases its resistance. 1919 saw the appearance of the first wired tires, and 1923 the development of the first low-pressure touring tire, named comfort wired tire.
With the first beaded tires, a new tread pattern appears, known as Double Rivet, as it reproduces this type of pattern. It will be found on many tires equipping vehicles between the two wars and is present on all sizes of the Michelin Collection range.
Today, the materials used to manufacture these tires are modern. Each tire has its own load pressure balance allowing it to display optimized behavior on the road and to offer the best longevity possible.
