Very good performance on the road, OK in mud; on grass, grip could be better. At 8°C, it still has good grip; durability is good relative to mileage.

I’ve done 4,000 kilometres on it, mostly on the TET and ACT in the Balkans and Sardinia. Although it isn’t a classic knobbly tyre, it was fully convincing on dry, rocky terrain. It also handled muddy sections in Croatian forests—rutted up by timber lorries—without any issues. The only time I questioned my riding skills was on sand. Despite 1.2 bar tyre pressure, which should really make it ride like it’s on rails, the 690 Ultra became nervous.

I rode this set of tyres for around 4,000 kilometres, about 70% on tracks in the Balkans, Croatia, Bosnia and Sardinia, so mostly dry and rocky. There is still tread left, but the front is slowly starting to show cupping (sawtooth wear); at the rear, the centre blocks are more worn than the edges, despite little straight-line riding or any motorway use. With my riding style – fairly smooth, never aggressive – the tyre also grips well on loose surfaces. Off-road tyre pressure: 1.2 bar. It always feels predictable. Where it gets deeper, whether rocky or muddy, the front tyre becomes a bit sensitive, but it never leaves its line or pushes wide – on downhill sections the ABS intervenes noticeably early. I would like taller knobs.

Very good compromise between road and off-road. No concessions need to be made on the road. Excellent grip on wet roads. At the front, you need to be careful that no sawtooth pattern forms with brisk driving. It's best to increase the air pressure on the road. Off-road, I think it could have more tread depth and smaller knobs at the front to grip the ground better.

Great off-road tyres

Love the tyre, but only for the rear; the front one is great on the road, but it clearly lacks tread depth for off-road use...

Very good tyre, resistant to the gravel of the south and largely safe on the road. Covered 7000km with the rear, 60% off-road and 40% on-road in dynamic but not sporty driving on a T700. I will get the same again.
