Perfect snow chain, but there are errors in the size chart of the instructions. So, try it on yourself and, if necessary, extend the chain by (very simply) removing the pins. How to do this is clearly indicated.
I bought this type of chain because of its key features: designed for cars with limited clearance between tyre and wheel arch, easy to fit, and safe for alloy wheels. The Pewag Servo Star RSC 910V chains are intended, among other things, for wheels with tyres of size 235/50/20, which is what my vehicle has. According to the fitting instructions for this size, I should first remove five bolts with the light-green sleeve to adjust the chain length to the tyre’s circumference. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough! The chains simply wouldn’t go on the tyre; they were too tight. I had to take out the remaining three bolts (with grey sleeves), in other words all eight removable bolts in this model, which also means the chains cannot be lengthened any further. Even after removing more “shortening” bolts than the instructions specify, they are still not easy to put on and even harder to take off because they are so tight. Any potential buyer should treat the instructions for this type of chain with caution and practise using them thoroughly before heading to the mountains. In the past I used chains from the same manufacturer—though a different type and fitting method—on a vehicle where the clearance between tyre and wheel arch wasn’t restricted, and the “traditional” chains went on easily, exactly as the instructions described. Despite the difficulties I shall stick with this product (I don’t have time to change it), but I am surprised by the problems and the discrepancy with the manufacturer’s instructions.
A bit of searching at the beginning for the correct installation, but once that's done, it's quite easy to put them on. Now to see when it snows, when it's cold, and also to check the grip in the snow, but that's difficult at the end of August. I still recommend the product.
